This week, I’m excited to introduce you to Brooke Lightstone, whose work I’ve loved for a while. Brooke is a family energy healer, a women’s spiritual guide and meditation teacher and author.

Brooke speaks beautifully about working to heal women and mothers. For me, she is the absolute epitome of grace, calm and wisdom and I really enjoyed our conversation.

In this episode, Brooke shares about how she healed her relationship with her own mother. It’s a powerful topic as the ‘mother-daughter’ relationship can be one of the trickiest there is. The term ‘mother wound’ refers to where we feel that our mother wasn’t able to show up for us or didn’t show up in the way we wanted them to.

We have a really touching conversation around this. Brooke shares her journey and how she’s now on a path of healing to release expectations around that relationship so that she can meet her mother ‘human to human’. I hope you enjoy the episode.

As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram so do hop over and let us know what you thought.

Key takeaways from this week’s episode:

From Marketing to Energy Healing:

  • Brooke started her career in marketing. (5:31)

  • She worked with spiritual leaders and helped them with their marketing agendas (5:38)

  • When Brooke became a mother, she realised that her path is to become a healer. (5:51)

Motherhood and Self-Discovery:

  • Brooke’s love for her children is a mirror to love herself more. It allowed her to create a path of self-discovery. (6:35)

  • She is very conscious of how she wants her home to feel. (7:16)

  • The mother is the dominant energy in the home. (7:21)

Brooke’s Childhood:

  • Brooke likened her mother to Mary Poppins. But when her parents divorced, her childhood started falling apart. (7:51)

  • She spent most of her childhood in a vibration of stress. (8:08)

  • As mothers, we need to have a proper model of emotional generosity. If we don’t, we create ‘nots’ around us, which is not authentic motherhood. (8:34)

The Healing Process:

  • It is necessary to ask for help from your higher power. Ask the universe to help you heal. (9:34)

  • You need to commit to healing. (10:07)

  • Brooke’s healing started with the most terrible breakup of her life. (10:23)

  • She went into inner child work. It helped her to see the world with new eyes and new energy. (10:42)

A Heaven-on-Earth Home:

  • It is a home where everyone is accepted. (12:58)

  • She wants her children to know that she accepts every part of them. (14:34)

Biggest Blocks:

  • The biggest blocks in building a heaven-on-earth home are self-love and self-compassion. (15:14)

  • Mainstream media has set up motherhood to look a certain way, and we’re constantly looking at ourselves as failures. (15:19)

  • The biggest block is how we talk to and look at ourselves. (15:35)

Creating an Inner Mother:

  • Do not look for perfection outside of yourselves. (16:03)

  • The energy of the Divine Mother is a reflection of who we are as a mother. (17:52)

  • Brooke eventually let go of her expectations around her mum. (18:41)

  • It can be a gift when our mothers do not show up for us. The Divine Mother will fill that empty hole. (18:53)

On Parenting and Childhood Imprinting:

  • Brooke is still working on childhood imprinting. (20:12)

  • She wants to connect with her children, even when she is upset or angry. (21:25)

  • Journaling is a useful practice in this process. (22:51)

Overcoming the Triggers:

  • We usually deal with children authoritatively. Consequently, we fail to see that they have so much wisdom. (25:01)

  • Brooke’s son gets extremely frustrated over Legos. He gets very impatient and yells at her. (25:39)

  • Brooke wrote these experiences in her journal. She realised her son was showing her a part of her that has not yet healed. (26:23)

Seeking Spiritual Assistance:

  • While thinking terribly about herself, Brooke heard a voice saying she is doing great. She realised that this voice protects and loves her. (31:33)

  • Brooke seeks spiritual assistance daily. (31:48)

  • Every morning, she calls on the energy of love to pour into her home. (33:13)

  • We cannot bring all the love into our houses. We also need to ask for help from the universe. (33:43)

  • Listen to the full episode for a quick guided meditation with Brooke. (34:53)

The Gift of Grace:

  • If there is one thing Brooke can give to all mothers, it would be the gift of grace. (38:18)

  • She wants mothers to have the energy of miracles on a day-to-day basis. (38:24)
